WHAT IS A
MILLWRIGHT, EXACTLY?
The word “millwright” can be traced back to middle the middle English term “mylle wryte.” This term was used to refer to any individual that would design, fabricate, or repair windmills.
The word has lived on to the 21st century where it now refers to a person repairing industrial machinery.
While the technical definition is a person who works on industrial machinery, millwrights are more like jack of all trade problem solvers.
The hard skills of a millwright can include electrical knowledge, welding, structural analysis, machine repair, troubleshooting, reading technical documents and whatever else the task at hand demands.
Two jobs as a millwright might not even see the operator utilizing the same skills.
